Master Instructor Russell Wright opened the academy in 1990.
From the start it has led in reality-based mixed martial arts, personal and family fitness, and practical tactical protection.
The fight team has produced champions in sport karate, Olympic taekwondo, full-contact kickboxing, and Muay Thai. The fitness floor was part of the early fitness-kickboxing movement, before Tae Bo.
Students still travel for the Joe Lewis Fighting Systems research conference. Rank, when it is offered, is tested in front of a board of master instructors.
